Essential Functions
- Identifies and assesses concerns and needs for students in regard to academic and/or behavioral problems through the analysis of factors impeding student adjustment including factors in the home, school and community.
- Serves as a liaison between families and schools to positively promote collaborative processes in educational planning for students.
- Uses district data to provide educational training for parent/legal guardian(s) and school staff on issues or concerns, as identified by need assessment results.
- Locates and mobilizes community resources to support the educational program.
- Identifies resources for families such as counseling, basic needs, and medical needs and provides connection with these resources.
- Affords support to all District Social Workers in managing district Social Worker service delivery that is consistent throughout the School System.
- Provides support to the Counseling and Intervention Supervisor with annual training for all district employees.
- Aids in the development and implementation of district policies and procedures for social programs.
- Collaborates with the Counseling and Intervention Supervisor and the School Safety Supervisor to coordinate the establishment of guidelines, procedures, and training for safety procedures for schools and staff.
- Coordinates on-the-job training for new Social Workers.
- Relays important information to school Social Workers and administration.
- Provides updates on related resources.
- Collects information and data for required district and state reports.
- Determines methods for documentation.
- Establishes process by which to identify student needs.
- Participates in evaluation of program through collection and review of data.
Minimum Qualifications
- L.M.S.W (Licensed Master of Social Work) from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and State of Tennessee Division of Health-Related Boards or such advanced licensures as LCSW, LAPSW, LPC/MHSP, and/or school social worker licensure by the Tennessee Department of Education.
- A minimum of three years of school-based experience preferred.
- Ability to write clear, concise and accurate reports, including statistics.
- Proficiency in use of computer applications to include spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
- Strong group processing and presentation skills.

- Mental Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
- Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
- Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria and the goals and priorities of planning and development programs.
- Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 50 pounds).
- Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
- Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as rude/irate customers.
