Lead Distribution & Logistics Specialist
About the Role
Lead Distribution & Logistics Specialists perform and control a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of products at the local level. This includes functions such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transportation, storage, and delivery. You will ensure the efficient flow of products from the point of product request to receipt from vendors, primarily in the following areas:
- Store Room
- Point of Use Delivery
- Logistical Operations
- Other areas as assigned
This position leads up to 6 specialists in one of the above areas and reports directly to the Manager of Distribution and Logistics. The role requires cross-departmental collaboration, exceptional initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to meet productivity and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Train new employees on company and departmental procedures.
- Ensure safety, productivity, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate housekeeping and inventory control activities.
- Work with minimal supervision; make decisions within established guidelines.
- Provide effective coaching and feedback to team members; assist with annual evaluations.
- Apply extensive knowledge of departmental policies to complete assignments in store room, point of use, logistics, and other areas.
- Lead the adoption of new processes and skills.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for requisitions, picking orders, quality checks, freight sorting, packing, loading, receiving, put-away, replenishment, and order preparation.
- Process requisitions for tissue, implants, consignment, and supplies while adhering to system guidelines.
- Ensure efficient product flow from requisition to delivery for internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties and participate in projects as assigned.
- Cross-train in multiple areas of Distribution and Logistics (Store Room, Point of Use, Logistics).
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Requirements
- High School Graduate.
- 3+ years of related experience in a fast-paced environment (customer service, distribution).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Ability to perform the professional, clinical, or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college coursework in a related field.
- 1+ years of Lean experience.
- 1+ years of experience in a healthcare environment.
Schedule
Full time, Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM.
