Lead Diesel Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Lead Technician reports to a Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager. This role oversees a group of technicians to ensure all repairs and maintenance of equipment comply with safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain expert knowledge of and proficiency in various vehicle components and systems, including chassis, refuse bodies, air and hydraulic braking systems, engine repair, and more.
• Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication.
• Provide direction to technicians to ensure all repairs and maintenance are performed safely and efficiently.
• Schedule repair work to minimize lost productivity.
• Inspect repairs done by third-party vendors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
• Diagnose and identify sources of malfunctions using electronic tools.
• Complete applicable Company training programs.
• Handle Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities as needed.
• Act as a mentor to technicians.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience (plus).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks.
• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) (plus).
• A Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License (plus).
• A valid Driver’s License.
