Lead Customer Engineer - Power Solutions will act as the technical owner for customer-facing power system solutions across data center, server, and storage environments. This role combines deep electrical and mechanical engineering expertise with strong customer engagement to design, validate, and deliver interconnect and connector solutions that meet performance, manufacturability, and reliability targets.
Responsibilities
- Work with customers to develop solutions that address their needs and satisfy the technical requirements related to power solutions.
- Accurately assess customer's needs, matching them with current products or propose modifications to current products and/or propose new product concepts for further development by the engineering team.
- Provide the best solution based on product knowledge.
- Create models and/or technical presentations to propose concepts and solutions.
- Proficient in internal systems: Windchill, product configurators, etc.
- Provide key engineering documents: drawings, product specifications, lab test results, plating analysis, etc.
- Understand business unit capabilities (Engineering, Thermal, Manufacturing, Test labs).
- Engage thermal engineering and simulation teams when needed to support; facilitate lab testing to support design proposals.
- Demonstrate competence and expertise on the company and its products, with the ability to identify and communicate emerging trends in the marketplace.
- Help devise strategies to differentiate our products and solutions from competitors.
- Develop a trusted adviser relationship with engineering teams of key customers.
- Lead and/or participate in new product Voice of Customer activity.
- Meet and exceed strategic objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in power system design, interconnects/connectors, or related roles for data center, server, or storage equipment.
- Proven experience with interconnect and connector design, including mechanical and electrical interface requirements.
- Hands-on proficiency with 3D CAD modeling, preferably Creo, and experience managing CAD data in Windchill or similar PLM systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, signal integrity basics, thermal, and mechanical considerations for high-density systems.
- Experience with product validation, testing, qualification, and field support processes.
- Excellent customer-facing skills with experience leading technical reviews and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills; ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and manufacturing locations as needed.
