Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement control strategies for inverter-based solar and energy storage systems, including coordination with battery management systems (BMS), power conversion systems (PCS), and plant-level controls.
- Support design, tuning, and testing of inverter control algorithms to meet performance, reliability, safety, and grid compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with systems, software, product, and field teams to clarify requirements and support successful integration of control solutions.
- Perform verification and validation activities for controls functions using standard engineering tools.
- Auxiliary product and project execution activities from development through commissioning, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as control logic descriptions, specifications, test procedures, and validation results.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for control-related issues identified during testing or field operation.
- Work with experienced engineers to improve controls performance, development processes, and product quality.
- Stay informed on applicable industry standards, grid requirements, and control technologies relevant to inverter-based systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience working and understanding control algorithm development, system testing, and validation for inverter or energy storage applications.
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of working knowledge in power electronics, grid integration fundamentals, and communication protocols such as Modbus and IEC 61850.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience demonstrating strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience demonstrating ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with utility-scale solar or energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or Python.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards and grid codes such as IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, and UL 9540.
- Awareness of cybersecurity considerations for control systems.
- Experience supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, or field performance analysis.
Pay Range
The pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
