Lead Controls & Automation Systems Engineer, Amazon Logistics

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Senior Systems Development Engineer to support the Amazon Logistics Worldwide Central Engineering engineering team. This individual will challenge current processes, equipment, procedures, and electrical/controls specifications in our delivery stations, focusing on AB PLC/HMI and vision systems development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex control systems using Allen Bradley PLCs and CODESYS
• Create and maintain PLC/IPC/HMI software and vision systems
• Establish electrical and controls design standards
• Implement system health monitoring and self-healing automation
• Manage multiple high-visibility projects simultaneously
• Lead technical design reviews for control systems and simulations
• Coordinate with global design teams and vendors
• Drive process improvements and technical implementation
• Review and integrate new MHE technologies

Requirements

• 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
• 7+ years of industrial controls and automation experience
• 2+ years’ experience directly developing control strategies in CODESYS
• Demonstrated experience with Functional Safety standards (IEC 62061, IEC 13849, or IEC 61508)

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customers
