Lead Cloud Engineer GCP

About the role

We are seeking an experienced GCP Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of large-scale cloud engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of overall technology experience, including at least 5 years of leadership experience managing large engineering projects and high-performing technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, secure, and highly available GCP cloud solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Drive large-scale cloud migration, modernization, and transformation initiatives.
• Design and manage GCP infrastructure using services such as Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
• Establish cloud security, governance, networking, monitoring, and cost-optimization best practices.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, product managers, security teams, and business stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide hands-on technical guidance.
• Define engineering standards, best practices, and architectural patterns.
• Manage project timelines, technical deliverables, risks, and dependencies for large-scale initiatives.

Requirements

• 15+ years of overall IT/software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading large-scale engineering projects and/or technical teams.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure, networking, security, and automation.
• Strong experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud automation.
• Strong programming or scripting skills in languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Bash.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, networking, monitoring, and governance.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Engineer, or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
• Experience with enterprise-scale cloud migration and modernization.
• Experience with GCP data and analytics services, including BigQuery and Dataflow.
• Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
