Pay

Expected pay for this position is $36.39 - $42.81/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.

About the Role

The Lead Clinical Lab Scientist assists management in overseeing and directing the work of technical personnel performing routine and complex laboratory tests. Responsibilities include establishing work priorities, organizing and assigning work, and performing complex or non-routine testing procedures. The role involves regularly checking the validity and accuracy of test results obtained by laboratory personnel and performing the duties of lab technical personnel on a regular basis. Independent judgment and professional education and certification are required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the work of technical personnel in performing laboratory tests.
• Establish work priorities and assign tasks to medical laboratory employees.
• Perform complex and non-routine testing procedures.
• Check the validity and accuracy of test results obtained by laboratory personnel.
• Perform duties of lab technical personnel regularly.

Requirements

• Associate degree in medical laboratory technology, medical laboratory science, or clinical laboratory science and 4 years of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) laboratory training or experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology and 2 years of CLIA laboratory training or experience.
• If highest level of education is an associate’s degree: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
