Position Summary

We are seeking a talented and innovative Engineer to own the performance and development of cutting-edge, high-performance ceiling fan and ceiling fan control systems for residential and light commercial applications. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with deep expertise in electrical controls in AC and DC as well as RF and Wi-Fi connectivity. A well-qualified candidate will have experience with electrical residential products, specifically in lighting or fans and understanding of energy efficiency, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Lead the performance and controls of ceiling fans, integrating AC/DC/BLDC motor technologies, motor controls, LED lighting, RF controls, and smart home connectivity (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Alexa, Google Home).

  • Performance Optimization: Evaluate airflow, noise, and energy efficiency analyses and define product performance requirements to ensure exceptional product performance and compliance with standards (UL/ETL, Energy Star, DOE, JA8/Title 24).

  • Technical Expertise: AC and DC electrical control specifications and performance

  • CAD & Documentation: Create and evaluate detailed electrical PCB layouts, 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using tools like SolidWorks, Autodesk, or Creo.

  • Prototyping & Testing: Direct external supplier prototype builds, coordinate lab/field testing both domestically and internationally, and perform root-cause analysis to validate performance and resolve issues.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with design, sourcing, product compliance and manufacturing teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM), cost efficiency, and product feasibility to deliver on product portfolio and business goals.

  • Supplier Management: Collaborate with overseas suppliers (primarily in Asia) to ensure product specifications, quality, and execution are defined and measurable.

  • Sustainability & Innovation: Drive initiatives for energy efficiency, cost optimization, and next-generation technology integration to enhance product competitiveness.

  • Technical Leadership: Deliver executive-level updates on project progress and risks. Mentor junior engineers.

  • Post-Production Support: Offer technical support for installation, warranty issues, and field troubleshooting as needed through collaboration with Customer Service, Sales, and Product Assurance teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in consumer product development, with 3+ years focused on ceiling fans or similar motorized electrical products and related control systems.

  • Expertise in electrical control systems (TRIAC, PWM, vector control), wireless control systems (RF, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and motor technologies (AC, DC, BLDC).

  • Knowledge of safety and efficiency standards (UL/ETL, Energy Star, DOE, JA8/Title 24).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of power electronics, circuit design, and embedded motor control systems.

  • Experience with supplier management and manufacturing processes in Asia.

  • Proficiency in LED systems, including driver integration, dimming, and thermal management.

  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk, Creo, or similar) and BOM management.

  • Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and airflow simulation tools.

  • Familiarity with IoT integration and voice-assistant platforms such as: MATTER, Alexa, Google Home.

  • Passion for innovation, delivering and smart home technology trends.
