Lead Cable Technician

About the role

Our client is a leading employee-owned engineering and telecommunications services provider with over 50 years of industry experience. Their telecommunications division delivers full turnkey solutions for major clients, including both wireline and wireless operations throughout the DMV region. The wireline team supports extensive ISP and structured cabling projects within healthcare environments. This role involves serving as the primary resource for performing MAC (Moves, Adds, and Changes) work related to telecommunications infrastructure and devices in healthcare facilities across the Washington, DC area.

Responsibilities

• Telecommunications closet build-outs
• Rack-and-stack installation of equipment
• Structured cabling installation (primarily Cat6)
• Cable terminations and testing using Fluke equipment
• General network infrastructure support
• Collaborate with a Project Manager and execute work based on tickets

Requirements

• 5+ years of structured cabling experience, including installation, termination, and testing of Cat6 cabling (fiber optic experience is a plus)
• Healthcare telecommunications experience, including familiarity with healthcare facility standards and infection control procedures
• Professional, customer-facing demeanor with experience interacting with clinical staff and stakeholders
• Ability to lead small crews or direct helpers on project execution
• Self-motivated, accountable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment

• Primarily based in healthcare facilities across Maryland and Washington, DC
• Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, with start times ranging from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM
• 40+ hours per week with overtime opportunities available
• Travel between regional project sites may be required

This is a fully onsite, Contract to Hire position based in Hanover, MD.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00 per hour. Individual compensation will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.
