Lead Building Construction Inspector

Responsibilities

• Identify and address field issues to maintain project progress.
• Monitor contractor compliance with plans, contract terms, and specifications.
• Schedule and coordinate various phases of construction inspections with contractors, DGS representatives, and other agencies.
• Review construction plans and inspect commercial or industrial buildings and other structures for compliance with applicable codes.
• Document all field activities and represent Dewberry and clients in high capacity.
• Make necessary changes to construction plans based on field conditions.
• Perform field measurements of pay items and observe contractor's construction equipment.
• Use common computer programs like MS Word and Excel for daily diary entries, quantity calculations, and other required tasks.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in construction inspection.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred but not required.
• ICC, C5 Commercial Combination Inspector certification preferred.
• C2 Commercial Building Inspector certification preferred.
• C2 Commercial Building Inspector certification preferred.
• C2 Commercial Building Inspector certification preferred.
• C2 Commercial Building Inspector certification preferred.
• Proficient in document management and construction management software.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to drive and maintain a clean driving record.
• Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial or residential building construction processes and inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes and inspection methods.

Skills

• Proficiency with document management software and construction management software (e.g., Smartsheet, SharePoint, FieldWire, GoCanvas, Plangrid, PowerBI).

Pay

The projected range for this position is $95,000 - $118,000 annually. The exact salary may vary based on additional factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions.
