About the role

The Lead Budtender leads the dispensary team by setting examples that improve quality, training, and customer experience programs. This role executes initiatives to achieve sales and customer experience goals, ideal for a process-oriented professional with a track record of enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide knowledge, expertise, and a personalized experience to each customer, explaining the benefits of premium cannabis products.
• Resolve customer questions or concerns quickly; escalate unresolved issues to management.
• Accurately receive, coordinate, and fulfill customer orders using POS and inventory systems in compliance with company, local, and state policies.
• Adapt to varied sales volumes by staying active, engaging in learning, maintaining store cleanliness, and prioritizing customer needs.
• Meet or exceed daily sales metrics by following the customer experience selling cycle and offering tailored product suggestions.
• Assist management in ensuring regulatory and compliance standards are met.
• Foster a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while promoting curiosity about cannabis.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Maintain store appearance, including restrooms, to ensure a clean, safe, and guest-ready environment.

Requirements

• Stay current and adhere to all state cannabis agency policies and regulations.
• Meet the age requirement as outlined by the state cannabis agency.
• Pass all background checks required by the state cannabis agency.
• Accommodate scheduling that may include varied shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Communicate effectively with customers, caregivers, and team members.
• Prior customer service experience in hospitality, pharmacy, retail, or a similar environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 21 years of age (or as required by state regulations).
• Minimum 2 years of customer service experience in a fast-paced retail environment.

Working Conditions

• Work is primarily performed in a dispensary setting, which may be odorous and loud due to fans and filtration systems, with fluctuating temperatures.
• Frequent contact with staff, vendors, customers, law enforcement, and state inspectors.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently communicates with customers and caregivers about medical conditions and product offerings.
• Operates computer/POS systems, printers, phones, and other office equipment.
• Must remain stationary when checking in customers or operating the register.
• Constantly moves and transports dispensary products/totes up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, and walk as required for dispensary duties.
