Lead Bonder Entry Level & Semi-Skilled

About the role

Electric Boat is seeking individuals eager to learn and grow within our Lead Bonder Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings with basic mathematical ability
• Lay out, cut, assemble and install lead panels inside lead bays
• Caulk lead panels into place using a pneumatic process
• Work with lead (a heavy metal) and other various metals
• Develop a working knowledge of structural fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations
• Follow company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or current High School Senior, OR 2+ years of relevant technical experience
• 0-5 years of experience relevant to this job description
• CNC operation experience and knowledge
• Ability to work all shifts and in all environments, including radiological areas
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and lead compliance plan

Qualifications

• Must be able to become/maintain qualification as a radiation worker
• Must pass a yearly physical and blood work
• Must shower at the end of shifts and change into non-contaminated clothes on site
• Must develop a working knowledge of structural fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations

Skills

• Willingness to accept road job assignments
• Able to follow all safety procedures
• Able to work in all environments and shift schedules
• Previous metal fabrication experience preferred
• Military shipbuilding, manufacturing, and automotive industry experience preferred
