About the role

Electric Boat is seeking individuals to join our Lead Bonder Department, part of our ongoing growth and expansion of advanced submarine construction. The Lead Bonder Department works with lead and other metals to interpret construction drawings and perform tasks such as layout, cutting, assembly, and installation of lead panels.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret construction drawings with basic mathematical ability
  • Lay out, cut, assemble, and install lead panels inside lead bays
  • Caulk lead panels into place using a pneumatic process
  • Work with lead (a heavy metal) and other various metals
  • Develop a working knowledge of structural fit-up/weld symbols, burning, and grinding operations
  • Follow company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures
  • Perform lifting up to 40 lbs. as needed for installation and manufacturing
  • Shower and change into non-contaminated clothing after shifts
  • Work in all shifts and environments, including radiological areas
  • Accept road job assignments
  • Follow safety procedures and lead compliance plans

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED plus 2+ years of relevant technical experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work all shifts and in all environments, including radiological areas
  • Must be able to become/maintain qualification as a radiation worker
  • Must pass a yearly physical and blood work
  • Basic hand tools required
