Lead Boilermaker

About the Role

This position requires proficient mechanical skills and knowledge of machines, tools, industrial machinery, and equipment, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. You will be responsible for communicating concerns found during inspections and walk-downs, demonstrating strong organization and time management, and working effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts, such as safety valves or regulators.
• Perform demolition and structural fitting tasks.
• Attach rigging and signal crane or hoist operators to lift heavy frame and plate sections or other parts into place.
• Study blueprints to determine locations, relationships, or dimensions of parts.
• Follow directions from supervisors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 4-5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with industrial power and hand tools.
• Good reading comprehension and communication skills.
• Commitment to safety rules and regulations.
• Reliable transportation.
• Knowledge of safety practices for operating equipment.

Valued but Not Required

• Former Zachry employee.
• Training in vocational schools or related on-the-job experience.

Physical Demands

• Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
• Communicate by talking and hearing.
• Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
• Give full attention to directions and what others are saying.
• Lift, carry, and move objects safely.
• Occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms.
• Use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.

Work Environment

• Work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot to cool/cold, including occasional rain.
• Work at different elevations.
• Moderate to high noise levels.
• Job site contains light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools.
