Job Overview

The AV Lead Installation Technician plays a critical role in delivering high-quality commercial audiovisual installations from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial AV installation projects on-site while directing technicians and subcontractors as needed.
  • Install complete audiovisual systems including displays, projection systems, audio equipment, DSPs, control systems, racks, structured cabling, and related hardware.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, system schematics, and installation documentation.
  • Perform cable installation, rack building, equipment mounting, terminations, and system hardware installation.
  • Cook up daily activities with Project Managers and engineering teams.
  • Provide clear end-of-day updates and project progress reports.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues independently while knowing when to escalate technical challenges.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout each project.
  • Ensure projects meet company quality standards while maintaining safe job sites.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial AV installation experience.
  • Experience installing complete AV systems from rough-in through final hardware installation.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Cable installation and termination
    • Video walls
    • Audio systems
    • DSP hardware
    • Commercial AV infrastructure
  • Ability to read blueprints and installation documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and customer-facing demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently while also leading others on job sites.
  • Willingness to travel nationally up to 25–50%.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred

  • Previous experience leading installation teams.
  • Experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q-SYS, or similar commercial AV platforms.
  • Washington EL06 or Oregon Limited Energy license (not required).
  • Background in commercial integration or live event production with permanent installation experience.

Compensation

$30.00–$40.00 per hour
