JOB SUMMARY
Oversees the daily activities of Artists and Technicians. Oversees the fabrication, repair and finishing of costumes, figures, prosthetics, ride vehicles, props, show sets, new projects, aesthetic portions of animatronic figures and other elements of Universal Parks and Resorts. Monitors team member productivity and work habits. Plans and delegates work tasks and assignments among qualified team members. Captures and administers team member performance using the Lead Observation Report to support managerial and supervisory documentation. Use of a broad range of materials needed to maintain the art direction. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in training by developing new and current employees in multiple areas.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains and shares job knowledge, assists in developing employee’s procedural skills.
- Assists with training new and current employees and assigns who will provide daily training.
- Actively reinforces company safety guidelines and programs; reports non-compliance.
- Maintains and monitors team member productivity and work habits.
- Maintains and monitors care, condition, use, and storage of UO tools and equipment.
- Properly plan and assess project documentation, tools and materials before, during and after each task.
- Plans and delegates work tasks and assignments among qualified team members.
- Properly documents and updates projects and processes through SOP’s, Project Planning Sheets, DTI’s, Material Requests Forms and other documentation standards as required.
- Assists with maintaining material inventories and communicates resource needs and work plans to Supervision.
- Communicates performance expectations to team members in an effort to ensure proper completion of tasks; provides feedback for recognition and performance improvement.
- Provides two-way communications between work team, supervision, other departments, and HR personnel as needed.
- Properly tracks and records required information through Maximo.
- Painting various props (ex. - wood graining, aging, textures) to match existing surfaces.
- Cosmetic fiberglass repairs and gel coats utilizing various materials.
- Layup and vacuum bagging of repaired ride vehicles and props.
- Support general business operations by keeping assigned 5S area neat and organized.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
EDUCATION
- High school degree or GED is required.
- Associate’s degree is preferred - Visual Arts, Scenery Production, Technical Theater, Costuming or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred - Visual Arts, Scenery Production, Technical Theater, Costuming or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years experience in in set/prop fabrication and maintenance with the finishing aspect of animated figures is required.
- 1+ years of leadership experience required.
