About the Role
Supervises assigned shifts and works with Animal Care Technicians to maintain a clean, safe environment for pet guests. Monitors and motivates animal care staff, reports absences or tardiness, and assists with counseling as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Provides clean bedding and fresh water to each new pet guest.
- Directs and ensures the cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of all used dog suites and cat condos on assigned shifts.
- Ensures each boarded animal receives the correct type and quantity of food each meal and has clean water at all times.
- Monitors and accurately charts consumption and elimination of every pet guest; reports problems to the Center Manager or Animal Care Manager.
- Performs several walk-throughs each day to ensure pet guest safety and well-being in the boarding areas.
- Cleans up pet excrement as needed and performs Playtimes as required.
- Monitors pet belongings, cleans them as needed, and ensures their return to owners.
- Maintains the kitchen in a clean and orderly manner.
- Oversees and performs daily laundering of pet bedding and towels.
- Monitors appropriate inventory of supplies and reports needs to the Center Manager or Animal Care Manager.
- Ensures safe handling of all boarding pet guests and enforces safe handling procedures.
- Monitors physical plant needs in the boarding areas and performs basic repairs as needed; reports other needed repairs to the Center Manager.
- Ensures a pet guest report is completed and given to the owner for every pet guest.
- Supports the Mission and Philosophy of Best Friends Pet Care, Inc.
- Treats customers, guests, and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner; greets all customers encountered during work duties.
- Assists other Associates as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of animal care/kennel experience.
- Animal Care Technician Certified.
- Playtime Certified.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to frequently lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to be on feet for eight hours per day.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Must be able to work on a computer system.
- Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
