Lead Analytical Test Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Analytical Test Technician to join our life science team in Durham, NC. This position requires regular overnight travel but allows you to be home most weekends. It offers an excellent career growth opportunity as FST continues to expand.

Responsibilities

• Perform Quality Assurance testing of manufacturing facility processing equipment and systems supporting liquids, gases, chemicals, and solvents in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate conventional analytical testing equipment, including moisture, oxygen, particulate, Total Organic Carbon (TOC), resistivity contamination, and helium leak detection.
• Assist customers in identifying and solving quality problems and perform all necessary and assigned tasks.
• Participate in pre-planning and site-specific programs.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and quality contamination discrepancies; plan, schedule, execute, and report data professionally.

Requirements

• Job duties often performed in confined areas, sometimes in a cleanroom environment, in awkward positions and/or at heights requiring the use of ladders.
• Walk several miles per day and transport precision testing equipment using a 4-wheel hand cart.
• Work in a high-pressure production cleanroom environment without confrontation.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Follow strict cleanroom protocols, safety protocols, and PPE use at all times.
• Adhere to proper safety, decontamination, and gowning procedures, including PPE use when working with hazardous elements such as chemicals, gases, electric currents, high voltage, or moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional overtime required.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

• Solid mechanical aptitude, ability to learn, and desire to grow into a career are essential.
• Strong background in testing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing process equipment; technical school training is a plus, but hands-on experience in a technical trade is also viable.
• Military training and/or technical training experience will receive additional consideration.
• Reliability and attention to detail are expected.
• General aptitude in mechanical assembly and tools, with the ability to learn to use appropriate tools and fixtures.

Pay

$30–$35 per hour, depending on experience.
