Lead Analyst, Mortgage Business Controls

PenFed is hiring a Hybrid Lead Analyst, Mortgage Business Controls at our Irving, Texas Service Center. This role supports adherence to regulatory, audit, and quality requirements for the Mortgage business units while serving as the "First Line of Defense."

Responsibilities

  • Monitor adherence to mortgage regulations including Federal and State, NCUA, CFPB, and secondary marketing requirements.
  • Collaborate with business areas and the Three Lines of Defense to identify issues, develop action plans, and execute resolutions from internal or external audits.
  • Provide support with third-party investor reviews, audits, and system setups.
  • Assist with responses to audits from internal or external auditors and facilitate action plan development.
  • Provide system and operations recommendations to improve audit and compliance posture within the mortgage business.
  • Engage with Compliance and other departments to deliver on action plans and requests.
  • Support and integrate updates to Mortgage-related policies and procedures, establishing change management processes.
  • Monitor business area quality through vendors, quality assurance routines, and control reporting to identify risk trends and opportunities.
  • Coordinate with business areas, vendor management, and vendors to oversee servicing vendor quality.
  • Engage in disaster planning updates, testing, and responsiveness for the mortgage business.
  • Support testing coordination and maintain updates for Business Continuity activities.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the mortgage industry and recommend changes to benefit the credit union, members, and staff.
  • Monitor and track business process controls to mitigate risks outside of the business’s risk appetite.
  • Actively engage in continual departmental process improvement.
  • Establish and maintain expert knowledge of key business processes within the assigned mortgage business unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in mortgage controls, risk, or audit.
  • Experience in Mortgage Compliance is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balance multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data into concise recommendations and reports for senior management.
  • Experience using A.I. tools preferred.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Travel to various worksites is required.

Pay

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $69,000.00 - $115,719.00. This position is eligible for organizational and individual performance-based annual bonuses, subject to board discretion and approval.
