Lead Analyst Energy & Utilities, Electrical- 1898 & Co. (Morristown)

About the role

The Lead Analyst will work under the supervision of a consultant or project manager to assist with developing solutions to technical and economic challenges encountered by our power and utility clients, specifically in the grid modernization and distribution planning team. This role focuses on power supply planning studies centered on distribution planning.

Responsibilities include assisting with power system studies that evaluate power plants (both fossil fuel and renewable) and delivery systems (transmission and distribution), covering areas such as power supply planning, due diligence, performance and benchmarking evaluations, site assessments, investment planning, condition assessments, financial cost/benefit evaluations, and renewable development.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply engineering, financial, and economic theories and principles to complete assigned tasks on planning, analysis, and business implications for client projects.
• Analyze life-cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, performance estimates, and economic assumptions and forecasts.
• Apply basic knowledge of commonly used engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the consulting services industry.
• Assist with technical assessments evaluating impacts of rules implemented by regulatory agencies.
• Design, review, and modify drawings for project requirements as directed by project managers.
• Support power system planning and operations analysis, including power flow, transient, stability, short circuit, electromagnetic transients, reliability, and economic dispatch.
• Support transmission/distribution study analysis utilizing power system software.
• Conduct technical and business-related risk assessments.
• Develop and perform detailed financial analysis using various computer-based software.
• Develop technical reports and presentations summarizing analysis results.
• Prepare client presentations, engineering reviews, financial analysis, and contract administration for the design/planning of utility systems.
• Support Utility Consulting business lines as required by clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related degree from an accredited program.
• 1 year of relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of standard engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located without time limitations, restrictions, or need for work sponsorship.

Pay

$90,000.00 - $135,000.00 yearly. The expected compensation range is based on individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package includes a base salary and eligibility to participate in a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.

This position is full-time and based in Morristown, NJ. No travel is required.
