About the role
The Lead After School Counselor is responsible for providing emotional support and guidance to students during their after school hours. This role involves facilitating group activities, addressing behavioral issues, and coordinating with parents and teachers.
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support and guidance to students during after school hours.
- Facilitate group activities designed to promote social and emotional development.
- Address and mediate behavioral issues among students.
- Collaborate with parents and teachers to ensure consistent support for students.
- Participate in regular meetings with supervisors to discuss student progress and challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children in a counseling or educational setting.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with students and families.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with conflict resolution and mediation.
- Knowledge of child development and mental health principles.
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
