Le nostre pattuglie

About the role

Every day, thousands of police officers patrol cities, performing valuable work in prevention, repression, and community engagement. This continuous effort, thanks to shift rotations, covers all 24 hours of the day.

• In urban areas, patrols are conducted by Volanti (rapid response units) of the Questura (Police Headquarters) and Commissariato (Police Stations), as well as motorcycle units known as Nibbio.
• The Crime Prevention Unit serves as the State Police’s rapid intervention task force, providing strategic support in areas where complex criminal phenomena are difficult to address with local resources.
• The Traffic Police patrol highways and major national roads 24/7.
• The Border Police monitor ports, airports, and land border crossings, handling not only travel document checks but also the inspection of goods entering or leaving the country.
• The Immigration Office of the Questura is responsible for issuing residence permits to foreigners.
• The Railway Police oversee train stations and provide escorts on trains as needed for security.
• The Mounted Police patrol large parks and recreational areas in cities, which can unfortunately become hiding spots for criminals.
