Layout Technician - VDC

Summary/Objective

To assist the field crews and our in-house designers and detailers by collecting or creating points from contract documents to establish field layout for various purposes. This could include but not limited to the following: horizontal layout of duct, pipe, conduits, elevations, sleeves, wall layout, hangers etc.

Essential Functions

• Working in the field environment
• Assisting field crews as well as other customers with layout
• Ability to use CAD software
• Ability to use Trimble software and hardware
• 3D spatial visualization/thinking skills a must
• Must possess strong problem solving skills
• Maintaining equipment on a daily basis and staying current with the annual calibration
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 2-3 years experience in surveying and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
• Two years CAD experience
• Must have strong computer skills and have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Current valid driver's license
• Must possess good work ethic and be accountable for deadlines
• Must be a self-starter
• Ability to work and communicate with others
• Must have acceptable driving record

Work Environment

• May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness
• May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Travel

May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred

• Prior military experience
• HS diploma or GED equivalent
