Job Responsibilities
- Programs and operates the Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) and/or portable CMM and/or other measuring equipment to verify the quality of components, assemblies and tooling.
- Does necessary dimensional layouts via CMM or other means to ensure customer and Quality Assurance standards are being met and maintained.
- Provides dimensional layout services to ensure component and assembly conformance to engineering and quality standards.
- Calibrates hand tools, gauges and associated maintenance and records of maintenance.
- Performs capability studies as required.
- Maintains applicable software related to measurement systems.
- Prepares dimensional reports and analyzes them for correctness before sharing them with the user and initiates corrective actions as needed.
- Evaluates check fixtures to ensure they are adjusted and functioning properly and initiates corrective actions as needed.
- Develops gauging instructions and methods.
- Affords assistance with sample submissions.
- Affords assistance in maintaining gauge records.
- Ensures required accreditation and logo mark is correct on Metrology Gage certificates and maintains GageQuest software.
- Affords assistance in problem solving, implementation of corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement plans.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Very good understanding of computer programs.
- Proficient in PC DMIS software for CMM, measurement systems, and portable CMM.
- Strong experience in portable CMM and their associated software.
- Full knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) with ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to do trigonometric functions, geometry and basic math.
- Basic knowledge in maintenance of Coordinate Measuring Machines and other measurement equipment including the Keyence Scanner.
- Must possess a working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Knowledge of MSA (ex: Gage R&R, Bias, Linearity, etc.).
- Effective and efficient with writing, listening and communication skills.
- Self-Driven.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematics or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
