Layer 7 Application Engineer

It's contract-to-hire Locations: The role is open in Phoenix, AZ, Irving, TX, or Columbus, OH., onsite 5 days a week so candidates must be local to one of those three cities. Must have: Hands-on Layer 7 experience - diagnosing application-layer issues across HTTP/S, REST APIs, DNS, TLS/SSL and authentication flows, plus deep packet analysis with Wireshark or tcpdump. Candidates also need experience in large Cisco enterprise environments (routing/switching, SD-WAN, Direct Internet Access) and Azure ExpressRoute or similar hybrid-cloud connectivity. Nice to have: Banking or financial services background, APM/observability tools, and scripting (Python or PowerShell). Required Qualifications Professional experience diagnosing application and network performance problems in a large enterprise environment.Advanced packet-capture and protocol-analysis skills using Wireshark, tcpdump, or comparable tools.Strong knowledge of Layer 7 technologies and services, including HTTP/S, REST APIs, DNS, TLS/SSL, and common authentication flows.Working expertise in TCP/IP, routing, switching, latency analysis, packet loss, and traffic-flow troubleshooting.Hands-on experience supporting Cisco enterprise networks; exposure to SD-WAN and Direct Internet Access architectures.Experience troubleshooting Azure ExpressRoute or comparable private hybrid-cloud connectivity.Ability to explain complex technical findings clearly and collaborate across multiple technology teams.Experience contributing to incident response and formal root-cause analysis.
