Role Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI-generated legal research against real-world professional standards.
- Verify that cited cases, statutes, and regulations are accurate, current, and remain good law.
- Identify incorrect citations, misstated holdings, outdated authority, and missing controlling precedent.
- Distinguish binding from persuasive authority and provide clear written explanations supporting your evaluations.
- Help improve AI legal research by providing structured feedback and participating in calibration sessions.
Qualifications
- Must-Have: 2+ years of professional legal experience in a litigation- or research-heavy role, OR as a law librarian or legal researcher supporting substantive legal research.
- Regularly use Westlaw as part of your current or recent professional work.
- Experience validating case law, statutes, regulations, and legal citations using tools such as KeyCite and other Westlaw research features.
- Hold a J.D. and bar admission, or an MLIS (or equivalent) with professional law librarian or legal research experience.
- PREFERRED: Experience as a judicial law clerk or research attorney.
- Experience using Lex Machina, PACER, Practical Law, or other advanced legal research tools.
- Experience conducting multi-jurisdiction or 50-state legal research.
- Background in commercial litigation, appellate law, employment, regulatory, or government practice.
