Legal Counsel - Fully Remote | Upto $150/hr

This is a contract position with a commitment of 40 hours per week for 6 months, offering hybrid work in the Bay Area, California.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the quality of legal knowledge work tasks and AI model outputs.
• Identify missing behaviors and thin reasoning in professional scrutiny.
• Design high-quality instruction specs and produce golden solutions to legal problems.
• Define new legal tasks reflecting real-world practices.
• Develop challenging legal tasks and evaluation sets.
• Build legal-specific skills and tools with the research team.
• Collaborate with client researchers and specialists in adjacent fields.
• Translate tacit legal judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• 5+ years of substantive post-qualification legal practice.
• Specialization in at least one substantive practice area.
• Progression to a senior level with real ownership of matters.
• Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar, in good standing.
• Hands-on working use of large language models.
• Commitment to 40 hours/week for 6 months.
• Reside in the Bay Area, California and work on-site as required.
• Excellent written communication skills.

$100–$150/hour
