About the role

As a Part-Time Armed Crisis Response Law Enforcement Security Officer in Honolulu, HI, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Government. This role offers flexibility to build a schedule that works for you and explore new roles using our Claim a Shift platform. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a government airport location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming experience for travelers, visitors, and staff. You will communicate clearly, respond professionally to situations, and contribute to a reliable team that acts with integrity.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
• Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
• Conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence, and monitor for unauthorized access, suspicious activity, hazardous conditions, and security-related concerns.
• Report observations promptly through established communication channels.
• Maintain required documentation, incident reports, patrol logs, and equipment accountability records.
• Coordinate with airport operations and public agencies as directed.
• Demonstrate maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude; follow instructions and accept responsibility for actions.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing in English.
• Maintain professional conduct and courtesy in interactions with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
• Provide court appearances for citations issued on behalf of DOTA, with replacement staffing provided as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
• Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Law Enforcement Officer License.
• 22+ years of age.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922(g)(9)).
• No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
• Must pass a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months, a 12-panel drug test, and all future random drug testing.
• Must pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office.

Qualifications

• Completion of one of the following approved programs:
  • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
  • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
  • Federal law enforcement training.
  • Programs approved by the Director.
• Ability to supervise personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, law enforcement agencies, and the public on security-related matters.
• No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental/emotional disorders that may interfere with performance.
• Strong moral character, high standards, and truthfulness.

Skills

• Alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct.
• Ability to recognize, respond to, and take corrective actions in various situations.
• Physical capability to perform duties requiring moderate to arduous exertion, including standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, running, and self-defense for entire shifts.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) and assist in evacuations, including carrying a small child or supporting persons with limited mobility.
• Correctable vision to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision.
• Able to hear at a normal conversational level (hearing aid permissible).
• Well-groomed and neat appearance as an officially commissioned representative of the State.
• Ability to exercise physical force if required in the execution of official duties.

$34.50 / hour

Schedule

• Friday: 07:30 AM - 04:00 PM
• Saturday: 05:00 AM - 01:30 PM
