Law Enforcement Security Officer: Armed Patrol Driver Certified

About the role

As an Armed Patrol Driver Certified Law Enforcement Security Officer in Kahului, HI, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Government. You will conduct routine vehicle and foot patrols, maintain a visible presence to deter incidents, and respond to security-related concerns with professionalism. This driving post supports airport operations through clear communication, exceptional customer service, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
• Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of terminal areas, parking facilities, roadways, perimeter areas, and other assigned locations.
• Monitor access points and restricted areas, verify credentials, and report unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
• Prepare clear and accurate incident reports, patrol logs, and other required documentation.
• Maintain a professional presence to help deter prohibited activity.
• Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, employees, and contractors at an airport location.
• Coordinate with airport operations and public service personnel as appropriate.
• Provide court appearances for citations issued on behalf of DOTA, with replacement staffing provided as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
• Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
• Valid Driver’s License and Law Enforcement Officer License.
• 22+ years of age.
• No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C.922(g)(9)).
• No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a background investigation, drug screen, and physical examination.
• Must be mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties, including moderate to arduous physical exertion.
• Ability to perform essential physical tasks, including:
  • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or supporting persons with limited mobility.
  • Exercising physical force if required.
• Correctable vision to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision.
• Able to hear at a normal conversational level (hearing aid permitted).
• Well-groomed and neat in appearance.
• Must pass a 12-panel drug test and all future random drug testing.
• Must complete one of the following approved programs:
  • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
  • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
  • Federal law enforcement training.
  • Programs approved by the Director.

• Courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
• No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental/emotional disorders that may interfere with performance.
