Law Enforcement Security Officer: Armed Full Time Patrol

About the role

As an Armed Full Time Patrol Law Enforcement Security Officer in Honolulu, HI, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Government. You will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, respond to concerns, and provide outstanding customer service to travelers and staff at a government transportation location.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
• Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
• Demonstrate maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude.
• Follow orders, instructions, and accept responsibility for actions.
• Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct.
• Recognize, respond to, and take corrective actions in various situations.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
• Interact courteously with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of airport terminals, parking areas, access points, perimeter areas, and other assigned locations.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials, and report suspicious activity, hazards, or policy violations.
• Complete required reports and maintain awareness of changing conditions across assigned areas.
• Provide court appearances for citations issued on behalf of DOTA, with replacement staffing provided as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
• Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (credentials required upon applying).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Law Enforcement Officer License.
• 22+ years of age.
• Able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C.922(g)(9)).
• No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
• No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental/emotional disorders interfering with duty performance.
• Must pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office.
• Must pass a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months and a 12-panel drug test, including future random drug testing.
• Correctable vision to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision.
• Able to hear at a normal conversational level (hearing aid permissible).
• Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties, including moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, running, and self-defense for entire shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of one of the following approved programs:
  • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
  • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
  • Federal law enforcement training.
  • Programs approved by the Director.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for a designated distance (e.g., fire extinguisher).
• Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or supporting persons with limited mobility.
• Exercising physical force, if required, in the execution of official duties.
• Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
• Subject to random drug screening.

• Friday: 03:30 AM - 02:00 PM
• Saturday: 04:30 AM - 01:00 PM
• Sunday: 04:30 AM - 01:00 PM
