About the role

As an Armed Driver Patrol Law Enforcement Security Officer in Kahului, HI, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Government. This part-time position allows you to build a flexible schedule using our Claim a Shift platform. As an Armed Security Officer at a government airport location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for travelers, staff, and visitors. This driving position requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of assigned airport areas, terminals, access points, parking areas, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials, and report suspicious activity, hazards, or policy violations.
  • Prepare accurate reports and maintain communication with airport operations, law enforcement, emergency responders, and Allied Universal supervision.
  • Provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA, with replacement staffing provided for such instances.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
  • Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
  • Valid Driver’s License and Law Enforcement Officer License.
  • 22+ years of age.
  • No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C.922(g)(9)).
  • No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass a background investigation, drug screen, and physical examination within the past 6 months.
  • Must pass a 12-panel drug test and all future random drug testing.
  • Correctable vision to 20/30 each eye with normal color vision.
  • Able to hear at a normal conversational level (hearing aid permitted).

Qualifications

  • Completion of one of the following approved programs:
    • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
    • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
    • Federal law enforcement training.
    • Programs approved by the Director.
  • Ability to supervise personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, law enforcement agencies, and the public.
  • Strong moral character, truthfulness, and professional conduct.
  • Maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude; ability to follow instructions and accept responsibility.
  • Alertness, attentiveness, and ability to recognize and respond to various situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.

Physical Requirements

  • Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned posts.
  • Good physical health and capable of moderate to arduous physical exertion, including standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, and running for an entire shift.
  • Ability to perform essential physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
    • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for a designated distance.
    • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or supporting persons with limited mobility.
    • Exercising physical force if required in the execution of official duties.
  • Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
