About the role

As a Law Enforcement Security Officer: Armed Patrol Driver in Lihue, HI, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Government. Conduct visible vehicle and foot patrols, monitor assigned areas, respond to security-related incidents, and help deter unauthorized activity. This driving post requires an armed guard card or license and a valid driver’s license. Deliver exceptional customer service and clear communication while demonstrating a culture of agility, reliability, innovation, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Demonstrate maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude.
  • Follow instructions, accept responsibility for actions, and take orders.
  • Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct.
  • Recognize, respond to, and take corrective actions in various situations.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Interact courteously with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
  • Provide court appearances for citations issued on behalf of DOTA, with replacement staffing provided as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
  • Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (credentials required upon applying).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Law Enforcement Officer License.
  • 22+ years of age.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Completion of one of the following approved programs:
    • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
    • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
    • Federal law enforcement training.
    • Programs approved by the Director.
  • No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C.922(g)(9)).
  • No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
  • No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental/emotional disorders that may interfere with performance of duties.

Skills

  • Ability to supervise personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, law enforcement agencies, and the public on security-related matters.
  • Strong moral character and high standards of truthfulness.

Physical Requirements

  • Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post.
  • Good physical health and capable of moderate to arduous physical exertion, including standing, walking, patrolling for entire shifts, climbing stairs, running, and self-defense.
  • Ability to perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
    • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for a designated distance.
    • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or supporting persons with limited mobility.
  • Ability to exercise physical force if required in the execution of official duties.
  • Pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office.
  • Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
  • Pass a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months.
  • Pass a 12-panel drug test and all future random drug testing.
  • Correctable vision to 20/30 in each eye with normal color vision.
  • Able to hear at a normal conversational level (hearing aid permissible).

$38.00 / Hour

Schedule

  • Part Time
  • Day Shift: Tuesday and Wednesday, 06:00 AM - 02:00 PM
