About the role
CGS is seeking an experienced Law Clerk to provide assistance in all phases of litigation for a large federal agency office. This office handles high-profile cases involving opioid litigation and other significant matters, offering a fulfilling and impactful role supporting the federal agency's mission.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all phases of litigation, particularly opioid cases and other high-profile cases.
- Support trial preparation, litigation tasks, and other assignments from attorneys.
- Analyze documents, transcripts, and files to locate relevant information and evidence.
- Perform litigation support tasks using electronic databases, including reviewing, organizing, indexing, tagging, and summarizing documents.
- Conduct database searches for documents and information.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with review platforms and tools.
- Apply redactions to documents, including audio files.
- Draft review memos and other litigation documents as needed.
- Communicate directly with case teams regarding ongoing litigation.
- Draft, organize, and manage litigation review materials.
- Use task ticketing software to track litigation case support.
Qualifications
- J.D. Degree
- Active member of the Bar in any U.S. jurisdiction
- Experience with civil litigation, especially complex federal cases and jury trials
- U.S. Citizenship
- At least two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects
- Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging
- Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
