About the role
CGS is seeking an experienced Law Clerk to provide assistance in all phases of litigation for a large federal agency office. This office handles high-profile cases involving opioid litigation and other complex federal matters.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all phases of litigation, particularly opioid cases and other high-profile cases.
- Prepare trial materials and conduct litigation tasks as directed by attorneys.
- Analyze documents, transcripts, and files to locate relevant information and evidence.
- Use electronic databases to perform litigation support tasks, including reviewing, organizing, indexing, tagging, and summarizing documents.
- Conduct database searches for documents and information.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with review platforms and tools.
- Apply redactions to documents, including audio files.
- Draft review memos and other litigation documents as needed.
- Communicate with case teams regarding ongoing litigation.
- Organize and manage litigation review materials.
- Track litigation case support using task ticketing software.
Qualifications
- J.D. Degree and active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience with civil litigation, especially complex federal cases and jury trials.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- At least two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order-related projects.
- Proven capabilities and communication skills to interact effectively with clients and attorneys.
- Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging.
