Law Clerk II
About the role
CGS is seeking an experienced Law Clerk to provide assistance in all phases of litigation for a large federal agency office. This office handles high-profile cases involving opioid cases and other complex federal matters.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all phases of litigation, particularly opioid cases and other high-profile cases
- Support trial preparation and litigation tasks as directed by attorneys
- Analyze documents, transcripts, and files to locate relevant information and evidence
- Perform litigation support tasks using electronic databases, including reviewing, organizing, indexing, tagging, and summarizing documents
- Conduct database searches for documents and information
- Troubleshoot technical issues with review platforms and tools
- Apply redactions to documents, including audio files
- Draft review memos and other litigation documents as needed
- Communicate with case teams regarding ongoing litigation
- Organize and manage litigation review materials
- Track litigation case support using task ticketing software
Qualifications
- J.D. Degree and active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction
- Experience with civil litigation, especially complex federal cases and jury trials
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order-related projects
- Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging
