LAUSD Small Business Specialist
About the role
This is an on-site, long term job located in Southern California. No relocation funds or per diem are provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform field work for community-based organizations
- Coordinate with contractors in small business workforce development
- Develop and implement pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship trainings
- Ensure compliance with state-mandated apprenticeship placements and requirements
- Utilize available workforce development resources
- Identify and address potential employment barriers
- Understand and apply relevant laws, regulations, and codes related to the Small Business Administration and apprenticeship employment
- Communicate effectively with various diverse groups
- Work collaboratively and adhere to compliance standards
- Manage detailed tasks and design promotional materials
- Prepare presentations
- Hold a valid California Driver’s License for the use of an automobile
Requirements
- Minimum of four (4) years professional experience in a public or private agency related to performing field work for community-based organizations, coordinating with contractors in small business workforce development, including pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship trainings and compliance with state-mandates apprenticeship placements and requirements
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or related field OR candidates without the degree specified may be allowed to compensate experience on a year-for-year basis for up to 2 years
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills in pre-apprenticeship and State-governed apprenticeship training programs
- Understanding of procedures and entrance requirements for each local trade union’s apprenticeship program
- Availability to travel as part of the job

Pay
The pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors such as individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
