Provides laundry services to lodging operations with the NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG.
Responsibilities
- Sorts, washes, dries, folds, bundles, wraps, and issues linen in accordance with established instructions or as directed by the Lead Supervisor.
- Operates commercial washers, dryers, and ironing press, paying special attention to detail to prevent staining, over-bleaching, or over-starching.
- Loads, unloads, attaches, and detaches laundry chemicals as needed by hand or using carts, dollies, hand trucks, golf carts, or similar lifting/carrying devices.
- Reads and follows written directions from manufacturer or supervisor on the proper use of all equipment and chemicals.
- Cleans filters and equipment; notifies supervisor of any malfunctions.
- Inventories laundry to detect missing or damaged items; maintains inventory records, reports damages, and issues requests for replacement items to sustain par standards.
- May pick up and deliver laundry to multiple facilities.
- Sweeps, mops, dusts, and empties trash to maintain cleanliness of laundry facility and linen storage areas.
- Maintains documentation of work performed on a daily and monthly basis.
- May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as needed.
- Performs duties of housekeeping attendants or public spaces attendants as needed to cover staff shortages or unanticipated occurrences.
- Ensures security and privacy of all guests are maintained at all times.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Considerable standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
- Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor, including unassisted lifting, moving, and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed indoors in areas with adequate heat, light, and ventilation, though conditions may be very hot due to heat from dryers and presses.
- Exposure to outdoors may be required at some facilities.
- May be exposed to dirt, disagreeable odors, and skin/eye irritants from strong cleaning solutions; personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and must be worn.
Special Requirements
- This position may be designated as ALPHA personnel for inclement weather or national security interests and may require reporting for work when other employees are excused.
