Laundry Assistant - Part Time

About the role

Men's Shelter/Laundry Assistant serves to provide for the safe operation of the Rescue Mission’s laundry services ministry, which operates 365 days a year. Supports the laundry needs of the Shelters and Kitchen. Assists the Shelter Supervisors in the shelter as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a key member of the laundry team, operating commercial washer and dryer equipment.
• Organizes and completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Directs volunteers in assisting the completion of assigned tasks.
• Willingly works in the shelter as needed.
• Available to attend shelter meetings as scheduled.

Pay

$16.50/hour (non-exempt/hourly)

Schedule

Typical Schedule - Part Time:

• Sunday, Tuesday, Saturday - 2:30am - 11:30am; holidays as scheduled
• Wednesday, Friday, Saturday - 6:00pm - 3:00am; holidays as scheduled

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of standing
• Frequent stooping, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling
• Lift up to 35 pounds; not repetitive
• Temperatures may vary depending on activity/events; indoor/outdoor exposure
• Noise levels may vary depending on activity/event and/or location

The homeless, the hungry, the chemically addicted, the impoverished and the hopeless have all found a warm welcome at the Rescue Mission. The Rescue Mission is open 24 hours/day and 365 days/year and provides food, clothing, shelter, an on-site clinic, Recovery Program, case management, and aftercare services. All proceeds from sales benefit the programs of the Rescue Mission.
