Laundry Aide Healthcare (Every Other Weekend)

Job Description

The Laundry Aide provides quality laundry services to all facility residents. Collects and/or sorts soiled linen following proper sanitation procedures including keeping contaminated articles separate. Operates all laundry equipment, washes, dries, folds and distributes clean linen and personal clothing. Maintains a clean, orderly work area and department. Assists in maintaining adequate supply of linens for the facility and supplies needed in the department. The Laundry Aide inspects linen and removes for review by department head any worn linen which may need to be replaced. Sets up laundry carts or closets with adequate supplies for distribution to the residents. Assists in providing a clean and safe working environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read labels and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to read and understand labels and safety instructions and other department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patient, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take appropriate actions.
• Ability to visually assess all aspects of laundry department.
• Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures and to hear and respond to pages.
• Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop and have fine hand coordination.
• Ability to lift and carry laundry bags of approximately 40 pounds, stock shelves and laundry carts, push carts and climb stairs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
