Lateral Recruitment Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for non-partner lateral attorney hires
  • Develop and execute strategic recruiting initiatives aligned with firm growth objectives
  • Partner with attorneys and firm leadership on hiring needs, workforce planning, and talent strategy
  • Build relationships with legal search firms and manage external recruiting partnerships
  • Source candidates through applicant tracking systems, LinkedIn Recruiter, market mapping, and networking
  • Cook up candidate evaluations, interviews, offer negotiations, and hiring decisions
  • Track recruiting metrics, agency spend, and sourcing effectiveness
  • Oversee onboarding, orientation, and integration of lateral attorneys
  • Guide attorneys through conflicts, background checks, and other pre-employment processes
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, firm policies, and diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Guide and supervise recruiting team members while driving process improvements and recruiting best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or J.D. preferred
  • 5+ years of legal recruiting or attorney talent management experience, preferably within a large law firm
  • Practicing attorneys with a J.D. and 3+ years of large law firm experience may also be considered
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle lateral attorney recruitment
  • Knowledge of legal recruiting, employment law compliance, and diversity recruiting best practices
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems; LawCruit experience preferred
  • Proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, market mapping, and legal talent sourcing strategies
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop recruiting professionals
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to manage confidential information
  • Adaptability to new technologies and AI-enabled recruiting tools
