About the role
The Harris County Sheriff's Office seeks experienced Texas Peace Officers for Deputy Positions. Applicants must meet specific requirements and undergo a thorough background investigation.
Responsibilities
- Provide law enforcement services to the residents of Harris County
- Work in a first responder capacity
- Complete a physical abilities test battery
- Pass a thorough background investigation
- Pass a physical and psychological evaluation
- Pass a TB skin test and drug screening
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Bend, stoop, kneel
- Lift up to 40 lbs
- Firearms qualification
- Train in firearms proficiency evaluation and diagnostic
Requirements
- License as a Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Minimum of 12 months continuous experience as a first responder
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Correctable vision and hearing
- Physical ability to complete a physical agility test
- Pass a background investigation
- Pass a physical and psychological evaluation
- Pass a TB skin test and drug screening
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Firearms qualification
- Training in firearms proficiency evaluation and diagnostic
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate's Degree or higher
- Experience as a first responder
- Service in the U.S. military with an honorable discharge
- Commissioned and assigned as a HCSO Reserve Deputy
- Completed at least 1,040 hours as a first responder with the HCSO Reserve Command
