What You Will Be Doing
- Reads job orders to determine machine programming requirements.
- Sets up machine parameters and power settings.
- Calls up part number from computer to program machine.
- Puts steel into machine to cut part.
- Checks to print using various measuring devices to determine accuracy of part.
- Performs part verifications.
- Performs routine machine maintenance.
- Performs simple laser programming.
- Troubleshoots problems and adjusts machine as necessary to correct.
- Affixes to Steel Shed Coordinator with unloading & receiving material as well as ordering.
- Instructs laser take off operators.
- Affixes to schedule nests.
- Schedules machine maintenance with Maintenance Department.
- Cross trains Laser take-off and Laser Operator II employees as assigned by Supervisor.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
What it takes to be a Laser Operator with MEC
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or two to three years related experience.
- Computer understanding.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to train and work with others (Team Concept).
- Reliability.
