Laser Operator

About the role

As a Laser Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the Amada laser cutting machine to produce parts and products according to customer quality requirements. You will also perform first-piece in-process inspections, ensure compliance with all requirements, and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Essential Functions

  • Safety use of small hand and power tools
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and bills of materials
  • Basic computer skills, including Windows navigation
  • Understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes
  • One to two years of prior CNC machine operation experience (desirable)
  • Attention to detail
  • Overhead crane operation and handling large sheet steel
  • Use of measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
  • Determination of material types and gauges
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Compliance with UAI and ISO requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Creative attention to detail
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, handle large sheet steel
  • Use of measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
  • Determination of material types and gauges
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Compliance with UAI and ISO requirements

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent carrying up to 75 lbs
  • Frequent pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs
  • Continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling
