Large Diesel Forklift Operator

About the role
Our Delaware, OH manufacturing facility builds engineered wood trusses, constructs wood wall panels, welds structural steel frames, and assembles job packages for delivery direct to the construction site.
- Conducting a daily RADAR assessment of tasks or processes to be conducted.
- Following, reviewing, updating, and creating new JI’s.
- Pre-shift inspection of the lift assigned.
- Operate lifts in the 6,000 to 15,000lb range.
- Getting on and off the lift multiple times a day (60% on, 40% off) on average.
- Picking up and placing yard dunnage as well as tarping and untarping loads.
- Working from both step and extension ladders.
- Working with and around aerial platforms (working at height).
Requirements
- Be safety conscious and motivated to exceed in department safety goals.
- Forklift trained and proficient (preferred Large Diesel H150/H155/H165).
- Develop a basic knowledge of the product yard with organizational skills to maintain applicable product yard maps.
- Develop a basic knowledge of all RedBuilt products.
- Able to work in stressful situations and inclement weather conditions, while maintaining composure and safe work practices.
- Self-motivated, organized, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of forklift operations for the plant and possibly shipping department.
- Must be flexible to work daily overtime, including the occasional weekend, if necessary.
- Be a team player to help achieve department production goals.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High School Diploma or GED (not required, but a plus).
Physical Demands
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently walk, sit, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to safely climb on and off lift truck/forklift.
- Ability to occasionally bend, squat and/or stoop.
- Manual and finger dexterity as required to perform daily job duties.
- Frequently works near or around moving mechanical parts.
- Exposed to a high level of noise in the work environment.
- Exposed to airborne particles.
- Work environment: wood processing, manufacturing operation.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including variations in temperature and precipitation.
- Work in non-climate controlled environments.
Pay
Wage range: $20.00 to $27.00 hourly, based on prior applicable work experience.
Schedule
Monday through Friday (6:00am – 2:30pm) with overtime and occasional weekends.
