About the role
The Lane Packer Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for packing eggs coming off the machine lanes. This position requires standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and basic math skills. The role involves working around moving parts and demands strong mechanical aptitude.
Responsibilities
- Pack finished egg cartons into cases or arrange them on pallets according to established specifications.
- Inspect cartons for visible damage, broken eggs, packaging defects, and other quality concerns.
- Verify that date codes and other required markings are accurate, legible, and properly positioned.
- Close, stack, and secure cartons and cases to prevent product damage during handling and distribution.
- Monitor the packing process and promptly remove or report product that does not meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, free of safety hazards.
- Monitor equipment during operation and promptly report jams, malfunctions, or unsafe conditions.
- Communicate production, quality, safety, and equipment concerns to the Production Lead or Supervisor.
- Follow all food-safety, cGMP, hygiene, personal protective equipment, and workplace-safety requirements.
- Work safely and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and work collaboratively with other team members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written work instructions.
- Ability to recognize and report product-quality, equipment, and safety concerns.
- Ability to perform basic calculations and accurately record production information.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with production employees, leads, supervisors, and other departments.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality consistent with the requirements of the position.
- Previous machine-operating, manufacturing, food-production, or packaging experience preferred.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work scheduled overtime, weekends, or holidays as operational needs require.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working/Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive handling activities.
- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance or with approved material handling equipment.
- Ability to work near moving production equipment and in areas that may be noisy, wet, or temperature-variable.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety and food-safety requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
