About the role

The position performs installation, repair, and maintenance of the landscaping and grounds to ensure customer satisfaction around USU Housing facilities. Works as a member of the Grounds and Maintenance team, either with limited direction or under supervision. The Landscaper II reports to a Landscaper Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of the landscaping and grounds to ensure customer satisfaction around USU Housing facilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work, such as checking fluid levels, sharpening blades and repairing equipment.
  • Skill in performing routine manual labor.
  • Ability to operate landscape maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment (i.e. backhoe, skid steer).
  • Skill in operating snow removal equipment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience or an associate degree/technical training in a related field is required.
  • Must be punctual to work.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in performing routine manual labor.

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment. Must be able to operate heavy machinery during all seasons of the year. Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold.
