About the role
Dunn Carney LLP’s Land Use Team is growing and we are seeking an attorney with 10-15 years of experience handling Oregon and Washington matters. This position will involve representation of property owners and builders, as well as local governments (urban and rural) navigating Oregon’s unique land use requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage a variety of land use matters from inception through resolution
- Draft reports and legal memoranda
- Develop matter strategy and advise clients
- Handle zoning, permitting, comprehensive plans, and development approvals
- Represent clients in front of planning commissions, city council, county boards, and other public bodies such as the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) and Oregon Court of Appeals
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, engineers, and developers
- Stay up to date with changes in land use legislation and policy
- Maintain familiarity with environmental, natural resources, real estate, development, and municipal law
Qualifications
- 10 - 15 years of land use experience; some book of business preferred
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a deadline-driven environment
- Confidence in client interaction and collaboration with colleagues
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the Oregon State Bar (Washington State Bar Association admission a plus, but not required)
