Land Surveyor I/II/III- DEHE Engineering

About the role

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is seeking a Land Surveyor to support the completion of sanitation and health facilities construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews Division of Environmental Health & Engineering (DEHE) project proposals
  • Provides professional land surveying services
  • Maintains project correspondence and records from project conception to completion
  • Drafts and details elements needed to produce plans for construction
  • Identifies problems and recommends solutions or corrective actions
  • Creates written legal descriptions of property boundaries
  • Analyzes right of way needs for projects
  • Creates easement documents for needed right of way for projects
  • Land and Construction Surveying – Coordinates, schedules and monitors survey activities under the direction of a Registered Land Surveyor as needed
  • Establishes and analyzes survey control networks, and survey datum
  • Analyzes field surveys for accuracy
  • Creates and updates basemaps, property boundary and other drawings
  • Incorporates various types of images into CAD drawings
  • Creates plan set sheets for depiction of survey control and right of way
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

  • Knowledge of plan set structure and function
  • Knowledge of geomatics
  • Knowledge of the names, purpose and parts, setup, transport and the need for calibration of various surveying field instruments
  • Knowledge of the mathematics and measurements related to surveying including linear, angular, elevations, and unit conversions
  • Knowledge of basic survey techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of land status and skill in determining legal status of project lands
  • Knowledge of construction staking procedures and stake markings
  • Knowledge of skills that apply to Land Surveying and CAD Operations
  • Skill in technical CAD drafting using AutoCAD
  • Skill in performing computations required for CAD Operations
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with office co-workers, field personnel and community representatives
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software application including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • Skill in the handling, set-up, use and care of electronic survey instruments and accessories
  • Skill in incorporating field notes and survey data into computer based drafting software for reduction to engineering drawings
  • Skill in reading and interpreting engineering plan sets including all civil and surveying disciplines
  • Skill in incorporating new surfaces from Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) models into existing base maps
  • Knowledge of equipment and programs in order to independently carry out assignments
  • Knowledge of DEHE CAD Standards
  • Skill in the use of CAD applications required to independently complete assignments
  • Skill in field and office problem solving techniques
  • Skill in application software programs and specialty engineering programs
  • Skill in applying land surveying expertise and techniques to independently complete assignments
