We are seeking a detail-oriented Land Surveyor / GIS Technician to support surveying, mapping, and land development projects through a combination of field surveying, office drafting, and geospatial data management. This hybrid role is ideal for candidates who enjoy both fieldwork and technology-driven mapping solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Surveying & Field Operations
    • Perform topographic surveys, boundary surveys, right-of-way surveys, construction layout surveys, as-built surveys, and other land surveying tasks as required.
    • Collect field data using Leica, Topcon, GPS/GNSS, UAV/drone technology, and other surveying equipment while ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Establish and verify survey control points and property boundaries.
    • Maintain detailed field notes, records, and survey documentation.
    • Assist with construction staking and project layout activities.
    • Maintain survey equipment and ensure calibration and functionality.
  • GIS & Geospatial Mapping
    • Create, update, and maintain GIS databases, spatial datasets, and mapping applications.
    • Develop and produce maps, exhibits, and geospatial analyses for engineering, land development, transportation, utility, and municipal projects.
    • Integrate survey, GPS, aerial imagery, LiDAR, and engineering data into GIS platforms.
    • Perform spatial analysis to support planning, permitting, infrastructure management, and environmental initiatives.
    • Manage coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data quality standards.
    • Support asset inventory, utility mapping, and parcel management projects.
  • Office & Technical Responsibilities
    • Download, process, and manage survey data using AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS software.
    • Prepare survey drawings including topographic maps, boundary plats, construction layouts, easement exhibits, and as-built plans.
    • Conduct research of deeds, plats, easements, land records, and right-of-way information.
    • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, survey crews, and drafting staff to support project deliverables.
    • Ensure compliance with surveying standards, GIS best practices, and project specifications.
    • Organize and maintain survey and geospatial data with a strong emphasis on accuracy and data integrity.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, GIS, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience performing land surveying and field data collection.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and survey drafting.
  • Experience using Leica, Topcon, GPS/GNSS, or similar surveying equipment.
  • Experience with GIS software, preferably Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or related platforms.
  • Understanding of coordinate systems, geospatial datasets, and mapping principles.
  • Ability to interpret survey records, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License or Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification.
  • GIS Professional (GISP) certification.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience processing GPS/GNSS, LiDAR, drone/UAV, or photogrammetry data.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, MicroStation, or related design software.
  • Experience supporting utility, transportation, municipal, environmental, or land development projects.
  • Familiarity with ALTA/NSPS surveys and right-of-way mapping.

Work Environment

This position offers a dynamic blend of field and office work, allowing employees to utilize both traditional surveying skills and modern geospatial technologies. Team members work collaboratively in a close-knit environment alongside surveyors, engineers, GIS professionals, and designers to support a variety of infrastructure and land development projects. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Pay

$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Schedule

Permanent position, fully onsite in Mamaroneck, NY. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
